Last post from Beijing (at least for now)

Well, it’s happened. Our time in China is nearly finished. Hilary left early this morning for Taiwan, where she’ll be doing some research for a couple weeks, and I leave this evening for the US. Almost everything in our apartment is packed up, and as I sit here alone typing, the sounds of the keystrokes echo off the concrete walls of the study. I’ll clean up a little, mail off the last box of stuff to Pennsylvania, and walk around the neighborhood one last time, and then take a bus to the airport this afternoon. It’s been a fun ten months, and I wish we could stay longer.

Goodbye to all of our friends, old and new, in China. Please keep in touch, and hopefully we will be able to see each other again soon.
